Maintenance Department

SIRC owns and operates two railcar repair shops.  One located in Carterville, IL on the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad (COER), with UP and BNSF connections.  The other located in Cairo, OH, CSX direct.

The Maintenance Department coordinates with our shops to offer our customers technical assistance and solid knowledge of repair and maintenance issues, including:

• Expertise in pre-acquisition inspections and repair cost analysis. 

• Performing repair scope specifications and soliciting bids from railcar repair facilities for capital repair programs. 

• Contacting shops and auditing before and after billing repair cards. 

• Coordinating with Lessees in determining repair locations during lease term and auditing bills on their behalf. 

• Auditing all Railroad repair invoices and all follow-ups regarding exceptions. 

• Organizing delivery, re-stenciling, and repair at lease termination. 

• Performing preliminary design and engineering regarding conversions and leasehold modifications.

Mobile railcar repair is now available at both locations.
