Equipment Mix

Southern Illinois Railcar has a broad range of equipment, although the primary focus is covered hoppers, representing around 90% of the fleet.  The majority of these have trough hatches and gravity gates, with many having up to 286,000 pound gross rail load.  Boxcars and gondolas make up the balance of the SIRC fleet.
